rosa brook
Incredible first meeting where Dave’s dog jumped out of the car and attacked the client’s glorious plump chicken. Once the feathers settled the portents improved starkly and we began sifting out what they wanted and needed for their growing family. Yeah so there are some more trees and furniture around now but really this house was placed up and out on a wind swept cow paddock in rosa brook. South West WA, so we need plenty of winter sun, various outdoor spaces in differing configurations to allow for the seasonal changing wind directions & plenty of internal thermal mass. We arranged the rammed earth walls in radiator like blades through the sleeping wing to help maintain a comfortable mean temperature, the north facing roofs allow 2 huge platforms for PV and 3 distinct outdoor space were provided. Day and night zones, joined by an internal link, are separated by courtyards and finishes and materials were selected for their simplicity, affordability & durability. Such a beautiful part of the world.
